The hand of death has again passed through our neighborhood and claimed for its victim one of our best girls, Orba Dixon, age 10 years ten months and fifteen days. She was a sweet girl and had a pleasant smile and a kind word for everyone whom she saw. She was loved by all who knew her. She joined the Christian Church and lived a faithful member ‘till the time of her death. She leaves a father, one sister and three brothers to mourn her loss, in fact the whole community feels her absence. Her mother who had gone on before her was patiently waiting her coming to a fairer shore. She is not dead, look not for her among the dead for she is not there, her light has gone down to rise on a brighter shore where parting will be no more. Indeed it was hard to give her up, but is sweet to think of a grander time. To her kindred I would say look up yonder for she is there, beautiful, happy and free and in Jesus arms entwined for thee. She was laid to rest in the Combs Cemetery to await the judgment mourn when we will come forth hand in hand together to stand before the great Creator and go marching to that bright and happy land and sing the joyful praises of God's devoted band. She is resting with Jesus and found sweet repose with His embrace from her sorrows and woes. She is walking with Him by her side, she is blessed He has guided her aright in the heaven of rest. -- by Her Cousin, W. L.
