Gary Thornton, age 67, of Russellville, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at his home. He was born June 10, 1949, in Magnolia to William Ralph and Mildred Gertrude Dendy Thornton. He was an environmental chemist at Arkansas Nuclear One and a United States Navy veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Lee Johnson.
Survivors include three sons, Nathan Gleghorn of Chicago, Illinois, Aaron Thornton and Kyle Thornton, both of Russellville; two sisters, Clara Summerville of Gilmer, Texas and Sharon Merritt of Magnolia; and numerous grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Shinn Chapel with burial at 3:00 p.m. in Magnolia Memorial Park Cemetery at Magnolia, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home
