James “Ronnie” R. Porter Sr., 66, of Hot Springs passed from this life on November 21, 2015. He was born in Bastrop, LA on March 30, 1949 to the late Gabe and Maxine Porter.
Ronnie never met a stranger. He loved eating at the Waffle House and talking to everyone. As far as he was concerned there was no other restaurant than the Waffle House and no other country radio station than 105.1 The Wolf. He had several other things he loved also. He loved being outdoors and he loved to fish. He loved sweet tea, Diet Coke, and talking on the phone. Most importantly he loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
He is survived by three sons, Brian Porter of North Little Rock, James R. Porter Jr. (Kathy) of Conway, and Jimmy W. Porter Sr. (Jessica) of Vilonia; one daughter, Rhonda Walters (Lonnie) of Vilonia; the mother of his children, Rita Diane Mcewen; four brothers, Leon Porter (Trudy) of Prescott, Kenneth Porter (Cricket) of West Monroe, LA, Harold Porter (Glenda) of Bastrop, LA, and Gabe Porter (Janice) of Start, LA; three sisters Mary Green (Glen) of Oak Grove, LA, Libby Graves (Jimmy) of Bastrop, LA and Shirley Porter of Bastrop, LA; twelve grandchildren, Emory, Michael Joe, Misty, David (Tiffany), Aaron, Donovan, Mariah (Allen), Johnathan, Ammie (Danny), Jimmy Jr., Mikaela, and Emmalyn; eight great grandchildren, Chris, Bill, Nick, Hannah, Kaya, Shawn, Dax, and Collin Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6- 8 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.
