Richard E "Dick" Buchy, 74, of Atkins, passed away at his home on October 7, 2016. He was born July 3, 1942 in Greenville, Ohio, to Edmund and Ruth Howard Buchy. He grew up there learning the meat packing trade at the family packing business, Charles G Buchy Packing Company. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1960 and went on to Ohio State University graduating in 1969 with a B S in Animal Science, emphasis on meat science. After several years in the meat packing business, he went to work for the Iams Pet Food Company as a project engineer and was instrumental in the construction of the Lewisburg, Ohio plant and the Aurora, Nebraska plant before finally coming to Russellville in 1987 to help establish An-Pro, a division of Iams. Dick loved people and many loved him in return. He was a member of Delta Theta Sigma, a Mason, and faithful member of Bell’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He loved the Bell’s Chapel area, his dogs, cats, and cows. In retirement he enjoyed custom hay baling; most recently in keeping up the farm that was so dear to him. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Buchy; daughter, Joanelle Buchy(Nick), son, Paul Buchy and wife Brandi; daughter, Julie Shannon; grandchildren, Aarah, Danica, Lucas,Hudson, Zara; Sisters, Joanie Dahlen, and Gail Bell.
