June 26, 1902 - January 31, 1966
William Penn Hooker, age 63, of 319 W. Fifth St., died Monday evening at his home after a three week illness. Mr. Hooker was born in Kirby, Arkansas June 26, 1902, son of William J. and Ella Ross Palmer Hooker. Mr. Hooker had lived in Texarkana and Crossett before moving to El Dorado in 1922. He was an employe of McKinnon Furniture Co. and was formerly a salesman for Griffith Auto Co. and T. P. Marks Co. of El Dorado. Mr. Hooker was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Nora Pye of El Dorado, Mrs. W. C. Evans and Lois Huckabee, both of Texarkana, Mrs. Henrietta Wooten of Corpus Christi, Tex., Mrs. Sloan Wells of Cross Plains, Tex., and a number of other relatives. Funeral services have been announced for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Halbert Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (The El Dorado Times - February 1, 1966)
