James Shelby "Pop" Funchess the husband of Linda Funchess. James Shelby "Pop" Funchess theson of Marvin Funchess and Iva Allen Funchess.


James Shelby “Pop” Funchess, 84 of Hoxie, AR died Wednesday June 14, 2017 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.

He was born April 25, 1933 in Wesson, MS to Marvin & Iva Allen Funchess.

James was a marine, a Korean War veteran, a loving husband and father, and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Sandra and Barbie; grandchildren, Jamie, Aaron, and Brian; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Susan Hunt & husband Todd of Olive Branch, MS; Cindy Throgmorton & husband James of Pocahontas, AR, Lana Russell of Hoxie, AR, and Vanessa Gray & husband James of Sedgwick, AR.; sons, Jerry Don Greer & wife Pam of Evening Shade, AR, and Quin Greer of Hoxie, AR; brother, Mark Gill & wife Sheila of Wesson, MS; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday June 16, 2017 at 6:00PM in the House-Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge.

Funeral services will be Saturday June 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Brother Rick Hart officiating.

Burial will be in Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick, Arkansas.
