April 18, 1895 - March 1, 1970
Samuel Sterrett, 74, of 431 W. Cook St., died Sunday night in a local hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Sterrett was born April 18, 1896 in Morton, Miss, and was a retired foreman for American Oil Co. He had been a resident of El Dorado for the past 50 years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mack Blalock of Little Rock and Miss Reba Sterret of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Reed of Traskwood, Ark., and Mrs. Lorene Heath, Cabot; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of Nazarene with the Rev. Halbert Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Irby Ederington, C. L. Booth, Brantley Sinclair, J. H. Sinclair, Rex Hurst and Paul Harrell.
