Mr. Benny Spears, 47, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Fayetteville. He was born Feb. 5, 1958, in Fort Smith to Benjamin Eugene and Virginia Wycoff Spears.

He attended Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and was a member of the Fayetteville/Springdale Elks Lodge 1987.

Benny was the owner of Herman's Ribhouse in Fayetteville as well as Outlaw Disco Production where he was the DJ for many functions around Fayetteville. He also was lead singer and bongo player for the band The Dead Crows where he said he had some of the best times of his life.

Benny will be greatly missed by many, many friends from all walks of life. Benny never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. There was never a boring moment when Benny was around. He was larger than life. He was truly a friend to all who met him and we are all suffering the loss of our best friend.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Caitlin Spears.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Conrow Spears; one son, Matthew Spears of the home; two daughters, Sarah and Hannah Spears of the home; three brothers, Mark Spears of Tulsa, Okla., David Spears and Richard Spears, both of Fort Smith; one half sister, Judy Luers of Downey, Calif.; one half brother, Dick Spears of Arlington, Va., and a very special friend of the family, J.T. Crawley of the home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Feb. 23 at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. J. Anthony Holifield officiating. Private burial will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.

Memorials may be made to Heather Spears Foundation, P.O. Box 3057, Fayetteville, 72702. This was a foundation that Benny founded in memory of his daughter to benefit kids with scholarships.
