FARMINGTON — Ralph A. Gurney, age 71, of Farmington died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Red Cloud, Neb., the son of William and Lillian Coleman Gurney.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; two sisters, Esther Gurney and Betty Flohrs; and six brothers, Henry Gurney, Charles Gurney, Roy Gurney, Allen Gurney, Myron Gurney and George Gurney.

Ralph served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965 and he was retired from Standard Register of Fayetteville, Ark.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lena Richards Gurney of Farmington, Ark.; his daughter, Paula Beard and husband, Danny of Farmington, Ark.; and a son, Arron Gurney and wife, Betty of Mabelvale, Ark.; one brother, James Gurney of Midwest City, Okla.; three sisters, Ruth Ward of Kansas City, Mo., Mildred Lindgren of Orval, Calif., and Jane Gurney of El Paso, Texas; and four grandchildren, Matthew Beard, Stephen Beard, Zachary Gurney and Christopher Gurney.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today, Feb. 22, 2013, in the chapel at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Beard officiating. Burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Gurney, Christopher Gurney, Matthew Beard, Stephen Beard, Dexton Wier and Denzil Griffin. Honorary pallbearer will be Darrel Richards.
