Obituary
John Conway Davis, age 81, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Southridge Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Heber Springs. Born in the Gainesboro community on February 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Jess and Grace (Allen) Davis.
Mr. Davis had been a resident of Batesville and Heber Springs for most of his life. He was a graduate of Batesville High School and Arkansas College, now Lyon College.

Mr. Davis was a retired sheriff for Independence County and also a former safety and security director for Batesville Manufacturing Company. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Davis enjoyed a variety of activities, including hunting, fishing, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, hanging out with his friends at the coffee shop, cooking, and wood carving. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Batesville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by one son, John Davis and wife Debi of Hot Springs; one daughter, Carol Lindsey and husband, Billy, of Heber Springs; his former wife of 36 years, Betty Davis; and three grandsons, John Clark Davis of Fayetteville, and Colton Lindsey and Conner Lindsey, both of Heber Springs. Mr. Davis is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the Olmstead Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oaklawn Cemetery at Batesville. Arrangements: Olmstead Funeral Home.
