Mr. Roosevelt “June” Akins, Jr., 58, departed this life on May 26, 2016. He was born on October 15, 1957 in Kansas City, MO to Sophia L. (Irby) Akins and the late Roosevelt Akins, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Akins, Sr. and his grandparents, Lula and Hurbert Irby, Sr. and Will and Hester Akins.

He attended high school at Northeast High School in Kansas City and later enlisted in the U.S. Army.

He accepted the Lord at an early age.

He is survived by his mother, Sophia L. Akins of Conway, AR; daughter, Octavia Harness of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren Brianna Harness, Alyssa Reed, Aallyah Reed and Titian Harness-Reed; one great grandson, O’Keem Harness; a special aunt, Hurmer Lee (Lee) Wright of Mayflower, AR; brother, Larry (Jaquetta)Akins of Conway, AR; sister, Darlene (Amir) Salaam of Kansas City, MO; a special brother/cousin, Rorbert Irby of Lee Summitt, MO; two special sisters/cousins, Bobby Irby of Kansas City, MO and Diane Mitchell of Lee Summit, MO and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Palarm Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 795 Hwy 365 South, Mayflower, AR. Visitation 1-5 pm, Friday, June 3, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment Palarm Chapel Cemetery, Mayflower, AR.
