Son of Columbus M. and Harriet (Lawson) Birdsong, I. O. Birdsong Dies at Mt Olive Sunday
Irvin Osby Birdsong, aged 56, died at his home at Mt. Olive, Sunday, January 9, following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at Mt. Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Monday afternoon with Rev. Hubert Morrow of Calico Rock officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, with the Cecil Funeral Home of Batesville in charge. Mr. Birdsong was born at Elgin, Kansas and had lived at Mt. Olive about nine years. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Jeffery, Cora Jean and Julia Mae Birdsong and one son, Billy Rae, all of Mt Olive, and a sister, Mrs. Tressie Mae Lawson of Almena, Kansas.

(Note: A good deal of research was done on this gentleman. From census records, draft registration, and death records this has been determined: his parents as quoted are correct; his name was spelled differently on almost all records, including Ervin A., Ewing A., Ervin, Ervin O. and Irvin Osby; 1900 census says he was born in Oct 1898, but he is six years old; 1910 census he has no initial and is born abt 1892; 1920 census he is Ewing O. born 1892; 1930 census he is just Ervin and married to Arlie with two children ages 1 and 2 months; 1940 he has three more children ages 8-2 months. None have had schooling and none with the names of the previous children. He also says in 1935 they lived in Baxter County. In his WWI draft registration in 1916 he is living in Pulaski Co. In the WWII in 1942 he is living in West Plains, MO. On both he lists his birthdate as Oct 7, 1892. On the AR death record he is listed as Irvin Osby died Jan 9, 1949. So everyone may draw their own conclusions as to the man's age, name and where he was, when.)
