APPRENTICE SEAMAN US Naval Reserve

June 18, 1921 - April 5, 1964
Ellis Jewett Miller, 42, of Calion, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday in a Bastrop, La., hospital following a short illness. He was born in Homer, La., June 18, 1921. He had lived in El Dorado most of his life and was an employe of Byrd Tire Co. He was a veteran of World War II and a Baptist. Survivors include his widow Mrs. Frankie Tyner Miller of Calion; two sons, Jay Miller and Dennis Ray Miller, both of El Dorado; one daughter, Mrs. Sharon Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; his mother, Mrs. Daisy Smith of El Dorado; his step-father, J. L. Smith, also of El Dorado. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Rumph Morturary Chapel with Rev. Dale Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers were Jack Byrd, T. M. Byrd, J. L. Smith, C. L. Parnell, Conlyn Miles, and H. M. Mattox. The family will be at the J. L. Smith residence on the South Field Road. (The El Dorado Times - April 6, 1964)
