October 14, 1900 - January 30, 1977
John Roland Launius, 76, of El Dorado, died Sunday in an El Dorado hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were to be held today in Young's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Oscar Haire and the Rev. Robert Holland officiating. Burial was to follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Mr. Launius was born Oct. 14, 1900 to Thomas Roland and Alice Cabler Launius. He had been a resident of El Dorado for 54 years, was a member of the Centennial United Methodist Church and a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge No. 31. He was a past grand master of the State of Arkansas. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Geraldine Stringfellow Launius of El Dorado; three sons, Roland Launius of Little Rock, Wendell Launius of Bossier City and James Launius of El Dorado; two stepsons, Zack A. Launius of Bossier City and Allen R. Launius of Hayward, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bermingham of Bauxite and Mrs. Elinor R. Cheatham of El Dorado; two step-daughters, Mrs. Coviedine Raden and Miss Bonnie Jean Launius, both of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Margie Coker of Camden; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
