Jesse Young Maroney, 81, of Strong, died Monday at his home. Born Sept. 10, 1886 in Oakland, La., he was the son of Henry J. and Frances Coma Clowe Maroney. A resident of Strong since 1921, he was a retired barber and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dora Duck Maroney of Strong; four sons, Jess Maroney, of Seagoville, Tex., James A Maroney, Kenneth Maroney and Joe Maroney, all of Strong; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Hill, Mrs. Talmadge Paxton and Mrs. O. L. Morris, all of Strong, and Mrs. Cecil Kellum of El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. A. D. Long of El Paso, Tex.; three brothers, Louis Maroney and Emmett Maroney, both of Marion, La., and Tom Maroney of Oakland, La.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. S. M. Williamson Officiating. Interment will follow in the Strong Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers will be Bob Mollenberg, Reed Fike, Jim Bob Norris, C. L. Gaskin, James R. Crawford and Grady McMath. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvis Harper, John C. Norris, O. B. Clark, Charles Johnson, Jesse Little, Read Williams, J. C. Phillips and Dr. Larkin Wilson. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Tuesday and remain there until time for services. (El Dorado Times - June 11, 1968)
