Charles Haw Lewis, Jr, 53, of Strong, died unexpectedly early Friday in a local hospital. Born Feb. 21, 1915 in Strong, he was the son of Charles H. and Ola Lee Wheelis Lewis, Sr. He was owner and operator of Wheelis-Lewis Hardware Co. in Strong, and washaterias in both Strong and Huttig. He was a lifelong resident of Strong and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Strong. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy Seebees. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bradley Lewis; a son, Charles H. Lewis, III of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Harold McClendon of Bastrop, La. and Major Mary Frances Lewis, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. (El Dorado Times - May 17, 1968)
