Nolan Merritt DeLaughter of Little Rock Died Saturday, Oct 28th
at the age of 79. Born May 11, 1927, he was the son of George Merritt
and Nora DeLaughter of El Dorado. As a young man he served his country
in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. St Louis starting the day WWII ended.
His distinguished career began as a photographer and reporter
for an east Texas newspaper and later joined the Palmer Newspapers.
Eventual becoming business manager of El Dorado News.
In 1969 moved to Little Rock becoming Vice President of Heritage
Publishing Company, Subsequently Production Manager at the
Arkansas Democrat and when Palmer News Papers purchased the
Newspaper in the Mid 70's he became Manager of the Arkansas Democrat.
In 1979 a turn in his career led to the opening of the first retail Computer
Store in Arkansas, ComputerLand # 56 and eventually opening 3 additional locations.

He was survived by his Wife Peggy Earley DeLaughter, daughter Linda Mixon
and husband Jerry of Nacogdoches, His two sons, Merritt Dan DeLaughter
and wife Cylinda of Little Rock, Phillip Gregory DeLaughter of Conway, along
with eight grandchildren and four great grand children.
