SPRINGDALE — George Jackson Davis Jr., 83, of Springdale died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born March 25, 1929, in Greenland, Ark., to George Jackson Davis Sr. and Lena Cate Davis.
George worked from top to bottom in the oil fields. He served in the United States Army serving during World War II and the Korean conflict. He graduated from the 16th Corps Leader School at Camp Matsushima, Japan. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, Korean Presidential Citation and Distinguished Unit Citation. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved all spots, especially playing golf.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Travis Martin; two siblings, Leonard Davis and Jerry Counts and her husband, Wayne.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann of the home, to whom he married Oct. 5, 1958; one son, Jackson Wade Davis and wife, Lori, of Edmond, Okla.; one daughter, Donna Martin of Springdale; one sister-in-law, Shirley Davis of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, Blair Nutter and Mitt Davis; and four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Ben, Annie and Jackson.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28,
2013, at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
