Died 6-10-2004
Billy Joe Tyson, 73, of Powhatan, Ak., died June 10, 2004, at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro. He was a construction worker for Cameron Construction Company in Jonesboro. Born in Hoxie he moved to the Powhatan area 43 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Armilda Tyson of the home; three daughters - Beth McEntire of Ash Flat, Mitzi Kieffner of Paragould, Retha Taffar of Ravenden; two sons - Billy Lewis Tyson of Powhatan, Johnny Tyson of Powhatan; four sisters - Mary Clark of Earle Betty Jane Morrone of Kenosha, Wis., Shirley Ervin of Powhatan, Sue Duhr of Mazomanie, Wis.; one broher - James L. Tyson of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Gladys Tyson and by two sisters, Thelma Mooney and Faye Counce. He was a Baptist.
The funeral was June 13 at House-Gregg Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Harold Russell and Jerry Clements officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers were Billy Lynn Tyson, Jeff McEntire, Kris Gill, Joe Scot McEntire, Mark Kieffner and Ashton Raney.
Honorary pallbearers were Amy Tyson, Crystal Meeks, Valarie Priest, Lacy Tyson, Vanessa Tyson, Stephanie Kieffner, Kacy Tyson, Cami Tyson and Kara McEntire.
