Lon Jess "L.J." Unger, 70

Lon Jess "L.J." Unger, age 70, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
L.J. was born at home in Salesville, Arkansas on December 20, 1944 to the late Alonzo and Dovie Unger. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1963 graduate of Norfork High School.
Mr. Unger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting guns, arrowheads, and coins. He also spent numerous hours building birdhouses and wooden chests. He was an avid fisherman and river guide for many years. He took great pride in his work as a security guard at Ranger Boats retiring after 26 years of service, a job he loved and enjoyed along with getting to know the Ranger Family. L.J. also spent many years serving the Flippin community as a volunteer with the Flippin Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Flippin, Arkansas.
L.J. is survived by daughters: Vickie (Jerry) Adcox; Cindy (John) Mostrom; and Kim Ramey; all of Flippin, Arkansas. "G-Pa" is survived by his five beloved grandchildren: Meadow Engle, Myka Arms, Alyssa Mostrom, and Tyler and Ryan Ramey, all of Flippin, Arkansas; two sisters: Hazel Dowden of Houston, Texas; and Mary Harmon of Drain, Oregon; one brother, Ernest Unger of Towanda, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Mary Unger of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and former wife, and mother of his children, Judy Briggs of Flippin, Arkansas.
Mr. Unger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Virginia Berry, and Georgia Jones; two brothers: Junior Unger, and Bob Unger; and his "little fishing buddy", grandson Wayne Moninger.
Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas.
A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church in Flippin, Arkansas with Bro. Danny Hutcherson officiating.
Graveside services will be private at a later date.
