Thomas “T.L.” Spears, Jr., 78, of Conway, died Monday, March 1, 2004. He was born in Greenbrier on July 29, 1925 to the late Thomas Lee Spears, Sr. and Ollie Fielder Spears. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Robinson and Center Streets and was a WWII Army veteran. “T. L.” was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter, and woodworker who gave away most of the fruits of his efforts. He was proud of his service to his country, fighting in WWII at the “Battle of the Bulge.” Many Faulkner County residents remember him as the T. V. Repairman who fixed problems that others couldn’t. His greatest talent was as a devoted husband, father, brother, and, most importantly, a servant to God. If “T. L.” said it was so, you could count on it. Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Loge of Conway; a son, Ronnie Spears of Little Rock; three sisters, Efleda Baker of Conway, and Martha Barton and Barbara Hooten, both of Greenbrier; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gennav Battles Spears. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Robinson and Center Church of Christ with Billy Blakeney officiating. Interment will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy. Visitation is 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Memorials may be made to the Robinson and Center Church of Christ Children’s Fund. All of us hope to join him again one day, because we know he is with his wife and his God.
