Ferron P. Bivens, born July 8, 1939, died Friday, September 27, 2002 at 7:20 p.m. at the McClellan Veterans Hospital from complications following an accident and poor health. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nina; two sons, Lloyd (deceased), and Andrew; two daughters, Nancilla Bivens and Judith Cotton; and a daughter-in-law, Kristi Barton Bivens. He was the grandfather of three, Kandis, Kaleb, and Kendra Bivens. He was the son of Herman Bivens (deceased) and Elsie Bivens of Quitman. He is also survived by two brothers, Don Bivens of Quitman and Hassel Bivens of Guy, as well as their wives and children. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Frankie Battles of Guy; two sisters-in-law, Linda Stevenson and Mary Woodall, their husbands and children. He will be remembered and honored by a large extended family, friends, and many business associates. Ferron spent his life building a successful construction company. He was a deacon at the New Home Baptist Church and a Free Mason. Funeral services will be held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Greenbrier at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2002. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 501-679-2575. Interment: Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy. A dinner will be held at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Guy immediately following the services.
