FAYETTEVILLE — John Robert Hipps, 71, of Fayetteville died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012. He was born May 5, 1941, in Luxora, Ark., to Wilburn and Gracie Hipps.
He was a truck driver for Tyson Foods and retired after 33 years. He was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Living Faith Church in Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Hipps and Curtis Hipps; and two sisters, Sandra Lorraine Hipps and Norma Jean Hipps.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Hipps of the home; four daughters, Donna Sumter and husband, Stan, of Farmington, Barbara Fitch and husband, Jeff of Fayetteville, Teresa Skelton and husband, Jason, of Prairie Grove and Melissa Moss and husband, Brandon, of Farmington; two sons, Bobby Hipps and wife, Kelley, of Goshen and Darren Hipps and wife, Pamela, of Fayetteville; three sisters, Bonita Edens and husband, Joseph, of Prairie Grove, Elwanda Hipps of Springdale and Melba Ashby and husband, Paul, of Fayetteville; brother, James Hipps of Elkins; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Beard's Funeral Chapel, today from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Living Faith Church in Fayetteville with Pastor Steven Curtis, the Rev. Buell Curtis and the Rev. Lester Shadrick officiating.
