Alfred Young, son of the late Alfred Cole Young and Maydene Davis Young, was born January 4, 1945 in Rosie, Arkansas. He departed this life February 2, 2013 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 68 years and 29 days. He was united in marriage to Libbie Arlene Lawrence on June 2, 1973 in Van Buren, Arkansas and to this union three children were born. At the age of 21, Alfred became an ordained minister. As a Southern Baptist Minister, he spent his life preaching, teaching and leading people to the Lord. He was a loving son, brother, husband, uncle, grandfather, provider and friend.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 39 years: Libbie Young of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Johnny and Misti Young of Wideman and Billy Young of Wideman; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Robert Staggs of Wideman; three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Bobbi and Sonny Lynn of Maple Springs, Arkansas, Robbie and Gerald Markowrki of Batesville and Karen and Terry Bradley of Cave City, Arkansas; six grandchildren: C C Wiles, Adrienne Whitfield, Keith Hamilton, Colten Hamilton, Kayley Young and Shayna Staggs; one great grandchild: Carsen Cooper and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Jamie Barber officiating. Burial will be at Hand Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3 from 6 -8 pm. at the funeral home in Calico Rock.
Pallbearers: Roy Young, Lonnie Young, Terry Young, J D Hooper, Andy Willford, Calvin Salter. Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Dean Young, Randy David, Kenny Lawrence, David Lawrence, Tom Lemon, Terry Bradley.
