1836-1880
The first person to be buried in this cemetery. This grave runs north and south, while all others run east and west. Father McKee (Pastor in 1972) said that there was a notation, about this grave, in the church records. Herman Hoppe was buried on a very stormy looking day. The young boys who were sent to dig the grave, could not see the sun, so guessed the direction wrong. It was noticed at the time of burial, but it was raining so they buried him thus.
