Joseph Taylor “Lizard” Douglas, 80 of Black Rock passed away December 28, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

Joseph was born April 9, 1933 at Smithville, Arkansas. He was a resident of Lawrence County and a member of the Baptist Church. He retired from Hoxie Water Works and was a United States Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Verna Clark Douglas; two infant sisters, Gene Mae Douglas and Grace Ann Douglas.

He is survived by wife, Lola Douglas of the home; daughter, Pam Nelson (Bill) of Ravenden; sons, Leslie Douglas (Patricia) of Hoxie and Kevin Spradlin (Sandra) of Imboden; sisters, Maurine Parrish (Fred) of Illinois and Kathryn Thomas of Greenbrier; brothers, Bob Douglas (Maggie) of Heber Springs, Fred Douglas (Marie) of Heber Springs and Don Douglas of Walnut Ridge; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Barry Thomas, Michael Witt, Chris Phillips, Jay Corrons, Beau Douglas, Leif Douglas.

Honorary: Steven Day, Ed Crawford and Brandon Douglas.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with John Durham officiating. Burial will follow in Hillhouse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m.
