SPRINGDALE — S.L. Lawson, 71, passed away July 11, 2014, at WRMC in Fayetteville. He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Fayetteville to Seldon and Ruby Lawson.
S.L. retired from the City of Springdale where he worked with the Parks and Recreation Department almost 20 years. Prior to that career, he was a produce manager with Harps Food Stores for many years. S.L. graduated from Springdale High School in 1961. He was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church.
S.L. was an avid Razorback fan. He spent many hours golfing and watching dirt track racing. He closely followed and took great pride in any sport his sons and grandson played.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Homer and Lucy Ledford, who raised him; his parents; two brothers, Jerry Trullinger and Charles Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Burditt Lawson, whom he married Nov. 17, 1963; son Michael Lawson and fiancee Andrea Johnson, Springdale; son, Mitchell Lawson and fiancee Ashley Combs, Springdale; one half brother, Terry Trullinger, Arizona; one half sister, Jackie Podrouzek, Nebraska; one grandson, Drew Lawson, and one soon-to-be bonus granddaughter, Keirstyn Horn; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
S.L. enjoyed a good laugh and valued time visiting with friends and family. His laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home, Springdale, on Monday, July 14, 2014, 5-7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 15, 2014, 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial at Elm Springs Cemetery.
