John Thurman Tyler, Sr., 88, of Conway, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Conway Regional Medical Center.
He was born December 8, 1919, in Greenbrier, to the late Noah Anderson Tyler and Mollie Mozelle (Lindsay) Tyler.
Mr. Tyler retired as a serviceman for Arkansas Power and Light Company and was a member of Conway’s First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edgar Tyler and Elbert Tyler, and three sisters, Georgia Langford, Ruby Cobb, and Bertha Bell.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Lou (Starkey) Tyler; two sons, Tom Tyler and wife Linda of Russellville and Johnny Tyler, Jr. and wife Liz of Conway; a daughter, Kaye Mimms and husband Jerry of Conway; eight grandchildren, Tad Tyler of Bella Vista, AR, Aaron Tyler and wife Anne of Broomfield, CO, John “Trey” Tyler III and wife Tori of Conway, Clint Tyler and wife Beth of Conway, Kristen Pruett and husband Steven of Ward, AR, John Mimms and wife Aimee of Morrilton, Michael Mimms and wife Jennifer of Ft. Worth, TX, and Michele Mimms of Little Rock; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Tyler, John “Beau” Tyler IV, Brody Tyler, Allie Pruett, Tyler Mimms, and Luke Mimms; and a sister, Mildred Bailey of Conway.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Rev. David Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation is Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Tyler’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
