Dr. Max E. Stacy, Ph.D., 80, of Conway passed away, Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Born in Pittsburg, Kansas, he was a son to the late Carl and Faye (Helms) Stacy. Dr. Stacy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and brother. He was a well recognized and remembered runner, having a route along Hwy 65 and Lake Beaverfork. He and a group of UCA Professors had an informal running club and during the Conway Centennial in 1973, they participated in a 20 mile foot race, against horses, from Conway to Mayflower and return, he was the first runner to cross the finish line, only two minutes behind the first horse. He also won 1st Place in the 10th Annual Arkansas Marathon. He loved the outdoors and riding his bicycle to work daily. He obtained his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan and his Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a C.P.A. and past Professor of Business Studies at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, a member of Beta Alpha Psi Fraternity and the American Institute for CPA s. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Conway. Dr. Stacy was preceded in death by his brother Galen Stacy.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sammie ( Martin) Stacy; daughter Joanie Stacy and fiance Timothy Kinman of Conway; a brother Carl J. Stacy and wife Virginia of Bartlesville, OK; nephews: David Stacy, Charles Stacy, Douglas Stacy, Nathan Stacy, Dr. Chris Stacy and John Stacy and numerous friends.

Graveside services, under the direction of Roller McNutt Funeral Home, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29th, at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway. Eulogist for the service is Timothy Kinman.
