Richard Odell Huffman, 67, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at his home. Mr. Huffman was born November 9, 1941 in Marvell, Arkansas to the late Odell and Bessie Smith Huffman. He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He loved to garden, fish, hunt and play poker. He was a professional drummer who had traveled with Conway Twitty, Levon Helm, Johnny Paycheck, Max Self and many others.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Huffman of West Helena; 1 son, Clay Huffman of Mexico; 2 daughters, Renee Corley and husband Lewis of Tennessee and Lorri Eplin and husband Randy of Estonia; 1 step-son, Mack Huffman; 1 sister, Jan Brewer and husband David of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and 1 brother, Ray Slay and wife Charlotte of West Helena. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lilly Mills.
Services for Richard Huffman will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2009 at Roller-Citizens. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena.
Pallbearers will be Darrin Burns, C.W. Gatlin, David Brewer, Clay Huffman, Jimmy Rodgers, Jerry Everhart, and Benny Adler.
