Eugene Wallace Ibison Sr., 76, of Hackett died Friday, April 7, 2006, at a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Fort Smith in the home where Ramsey Junior High now stands. He was the owner and operator of Hackett Stone.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Evans Memorial Chapel in Pocola, officiated by the Rev. John Mark Little and Gary Vancil, with burial at Barling Cemetery in Barling.

He is survived by four daughters, Rita Ibison of Fort Smith, Gail Nelson of Hackett, Karen Ibison of Fort Smith and Lois Bonine of Tuttle, Okla.; two sons, Eugene Ibison Jr. of Fort Smith and Mark Ibison of Howe; a sister, Lois Tankersley of California; the mother of his children, Evelyn Lois Ibison of Hackett; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, six nephews, three nieces; numerous other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Mr. Ibison was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended Fort Smith High School (now Northside High School) and John Brown University. He met and married Evelyn Lois Gibson in 1950. Mr. Ibison had worked for S.E. Evans Construction, Harding Glass Company, the coal pits and as a rock mason. He owned businesses in Hackett, Flora Vista, N.M., Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Wister, Okla. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ibison; his mother, Euris Vance Ibison; a brother, Robert "Bob" Ibison; a brother, Jessie Ibison; a granddaughter, Brittney Nicole Sparks; and a great-grandson, Devin Michael Hancox.
