Sharlon L. O’Bryant, 84, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, formerly of Helena-West Helena, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Pine Bluff. Mr. O’Bryant was born August 28, 1927 at Blytheville, Arkansas to the late George Matthew O’Bryant and the late Nell Leona Mundy O’Bryant. He worked for 22 years for Mohawk Tire and Rubber Company as a maintenance superintendent. He was a member of the West Helena United Methodist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason. He also served in the United States Marine Corp and retired from the United States Army with the rank of CW04.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathryn McCord O’Bryant; two sons, Kenneth Michael O’Bryant (Martha) of Orrtanna, Pennsylvania and James Patrick O’Bryant (Judy) of Elaine, Arkansas; a daughter, Sharon O’Bryant Milburn (Ken) of Harrison, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Dr. Anna Kate Milburn Tatum (Jason) of Harrison, Matt Milburn of Harrison and Taylor Patrick O’Bryant of Elaine; one great-grandchild, Chase Tatum of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Linda O’Bryant Hissong (Wayne) of Columbia, Tennessee; and a brother, Bobby M. O’Bryant (Jean) of Columbia, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donal O’Bryant and Billie O’Bryant; and his step-mother, Faye Sumner O’Bryant.
A graveside service for Sharlon O’Bryant will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Reverend Rodger Hooker will officiate.
Memorials may be made to West Helena United Methodist Church, 109 North 6th Street, West Helena, Arkansas 72390.
