Claude Gibbs, Jr., 71, of Bald Knob, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, June 26, 2008. He was born December 25, 1936 in Kinton, Arkansas a son of the late Claude and Lonely Gibbs. He was a 1957 graduate of Wynne High School and had worked as a truck driver in years past. In 1973 he surrendered to the ministry and attended the Mid America Theological Seminary from 1976 - 1979. Bro. Gibbs pastored 7 churches over the past 34 years which, locally, included Rocky Point Baptist Church and the Tupelo Baptist Church. He served as pastor of Central Baptist Church in Bald Knob for 16 years until his retirement on September 30, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Gibbs; 3 daughters, Pam Roth and Rhonda Clark (Youles) all of Searcy and Debbie Runyon of Newport; special sons, Michael Runyon and Tony Roth; grandchildren, Jeremy Roth of Searcy, Cameron Roth Pfeiffer (Josh) of Loxley, Alabama, Staci Runyon of Newport, Lindsey Runyon of Bald Knob, Taylor and McKenzie Clark of Searcy; great-grandchildren, Kijah Runyon and Brynndon Pfeiffer; 2 brothers, Johnny Gibbs (Becky) of La Quinta, California and Ralph Gibbs (Carlie) of Sylmar, California; 2 sisters, Patsy Banks of Lynnwood, Washington and Phyllis Berry (Durwood) of Hemet, California; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brock of California. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be at the Central Baptist Church on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church with Bro. Ledell Bailey and Bro. James Hays officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia.
