Married Sara in 1836, they migrated from Tennessee to Arkansas where their three children were born. He was first enumerated in 1838 in Mississippi County of Arkansas Territory.
December 1, 1849, land records reflect that Martin was issued a land grant for 80 acres in Johnson County, Arkansas where they made their home at Piney. The document was signed by U.S. President Zachary Taylor.
