Thank you for visiting Arkansas Gravestones The mission of this project is to capture and archive digital images of our ancestors’ gravestones. As decades pass the inscriptions on many gravestones are becoming difficult, if not impossible, to read. These archived images are one means of preserving these important records and simultaneously assist family history researchers who use this valuable, free, information-rich resource.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are seeking volunteers to take and upload digital photos of gravestones in many Arkansas counties. News If you find that the name of a cemetery has not been included in the list for a particular county, please select “Cemetery Currently Not Listed” found in the list for your county. Then, insert the name of the cemetery in the “Comments to be Posted” box after uploading your photograph. The Administrator or a County Coordinator will be responsible for including the name of the cemetery in the county list and will remove the “Cemetery ... Not Listed” language from the comments box at the time the photograph is approved for archiving.
DUPLICATE PHOTOGRAPHS: Duplicate submissions of photographs will undoubtedly occur as the web site grows and as additional people become involved in the activity. A member of the administrative team for the web site will consolidate the biographical information submitted in duplicate records, and select the photograph with the best clarity and composition for placement on the website. However, the contributions of each submitter will be acknowledged in the revised record. |
